Distant Guns

Distant Guns is a naval wargame covering the 1904-1905 Russo-Japanese war.

This war came at a time of transition, when new technologies like the machine gun and the locomotive torpedo were emerging, but with little understanding of their potential. The war would see the first signs of the future of warfare, along with plently of reminders of 19th century warfare still at large.

Distant Guns covers the naval campaign, whereby the Japanese navy must keep the Japanese army on the mainland supplied. Meanwhile the Russian Navy can win the war if it cuts the sea lanes. Each side faces its own challenges, which makes either side enjoyable to play.

These pages are intended to guide the player on some basic strategy and tactics.
